Autcraft is a Minecraft server created for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (like myself).
History
Autcraft was first created in 2013 by Stuart Duncan, (Known in-game as AutismFather) who was both autistic, and the father of an autistic child, in response to parents who did not know if their children could play their favourite game with others without facing the threat of discrimination.
Features
Autcraft is a massive server, with over 1,200 unique players on the server every month. It is administrated by adults that include autistics, the parents of autistic children, or family members of people who are autistic. Other forms of staff include "Helpers" and "Apprentices", who are people of all ages who prove to be responsible, positive, and helpful, "SrHelpers" which are adults that demonstrate some knowledge at the game, as well as having respect, responsibility, and helpfullness, and even "Buddies", who are people of all ages, who are supportive and encouraging to others.
It also contains a variety of unique additional features, such as:
Multiple worlds in which to build, explore, and gather resources
No tolerance for bullying, stealing, or otherwise causing grief to other players
No tolerance for swearing
All builds are protected
In-game support system
Community events
Minigames
More than just a game
Autcraft is more than just a game. It is a tool that allows autistic children and adults alike to enjoy the game with others like them, come together and be themselves, as well as having features that encourage people to be kind and compassionate towards others. Many people with autism who have played on Autcraft have had a day-to-day improvement on their lives, including people speaking who haven't been able to before and people who have been unable to make friends doing just that..
Autcraft isn't an extraordinary place. It is a place that is home to extraordinary people, who are proud of who they are, and are willing to accept others like them, and it's a community that I am proud to be part of.
my boy. my beautiful boy. i'm so proud i could burst.
